MechMatch

Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026 · Last updated October 3, 2026

MechMatch helps you follow robotics teams, matches, and events. This policy explains how MechMatch ("we") handles information when you use the MechMatch website at mechmatch.app or the MechMatch app. For privacy questions, contact support@mechmatch.app.

Information we handle

MechMatch has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth.

How information is used

We use this information only to run MechMatch: to show and personalize the teams and events you follow, deliver notifications and primary-team Live Updates, count how many devices follow each team or event in aggregate, operate and secure the service, and respond to support requests. We do not build profiles of individual users, show ads, sell information, or share it for advertising.

Services that process information

MechMatch uses Google Cloud and Firestore for hosting and storage, and Cloudflare for website delivery, API protection, and web analytics. Browser push services process web notification delivery information. Expo, Apple, and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging process app notification delivery information. Apple processes iOS Live Activity delivery information; Google Firebase Cloud Messaging processes Android Live Update delivery information. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these services operate.

These services receive information needed to provide their functions. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to investigate abuse and protect the service. For details, see Google's privacy policy and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Retention and your choices

The server copy of a device's preferences and its notification settings is scheduled for automatic deletion after 180 days without an update from that device. Deletion runs asynchronously and may take additional time after expiry. Using the app updates the copy after preference changes and when opened on a new day.

You can change favorites and disable Notifications or Live Updates in MechMatch Settings. iOS, Android, and browser settings also control availability. Live Activity session tokens are removed after the session ends or expires (normally no more than eight hours, plus a short retry window); installation notification records retain the expiry described above. To remove MechMatch data from a device, clear mechmatch.app site data in your browser or delete the app; the server copy then expires after 180 days without further updates and is deleted asynchronously. See data deletion for details. Operational logs and service backups follow the applicable provider's retention settings.

For privacy questions, email support@mechmatch.app. Because MechMatch does not associate installation records with names or contact details, we usually cannot match a request to a particular device's records.

Younger users

MechMatch is used by students of all ages, including children under 13. The app does not ask children for names or contact information. Installation identifiers and technical information are processed as described above. The random device identifier is used only to support MechMatch's internal operations as described above: personalizing the teams and events shown, delivering notifications and primary-team Live Updates, and aggregate counts. It is not used to contact anyone, build profiles, or serve ads. Parents or guardians with questions can contact us at the email above.

Changes

We may update this policy as MechMatch changes. The latest version and its updated date will be published on this page.
